Cat Brooch

Theme: The Kitten’s Search for a Bed.

The story begins: The kitten lay sprawled out on the floor, stretched out like a rug, sleeping soundly. But it was often kicked or trodden on by humans, so the kitten decided to find a new place to sleep in the house.

The kitten found a round space capsule. He could fit himself inside perfectly, feeling very cosy. But humans often came over and spun him round and round like a top, which annoyed the kitten, so he left.

The kitten then found a square box. But the box was too small for him; he could only stick his head out, which wasn’t very comfortable, so he left again.

Later, the kitten spotted a laundry basket. The space was large and deep. Hiding inside, he felt utterly secure. Yet the next day, the humans took the laundry basket away, and the kitten lost his bed once more.

Finally, the kitten discovered the top shelf of the bookcase. It was high and spacious, like a grandstand. He could lie there stretched out like a baguette, and the humans couldn’t reach him. He felt perfectly content.

At last, the kitten could sleep soundly.
